Your audio

Signal Check, the EQ Trainer, and the Compression Trainer all run entirely in your browser. When you drop a track in, it's analyzed on your own machine using the Web Audio API. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on a server, and I never see or hear your audio. Signal Check's analysis runs in a background worker built into the page, and that worker makes no network requests at all. Closing the tab clears the audio.

Signal Check does keep a few headline numbers from your last check in your browser, so the next check can show what moved. More on that under "What's saved in your browser" below. No audio and no file name.

Email signup

There are three places to give this site your email: the Stuck List form on the homepage, the email box that unlocks your Signal Check report or carousel, and the release-clip early-access form on Signal Check. All three add you to the newsletter. That includes the report and carousel box, and the box says so.

Two things get sent: your email address, and which part of the site you signed up from, like "homepage" or "signal-check". They go to this site's own small server, which passes them to beehiiv, the email platform this site uses. That server doesn't save or log your address. beehiiv's code doesn't run in your browser.

Signal Check remembers the email you entered, in your browser, so you don't have to type it again. Each export after that sends the saved address to the list again.

I see your email address and can send you the newsletter and related updates. I don't sell or share it with anyone outside of running that list. Every email has an unsubscribe link that actually works.

Brand briefs

If you send a brief from the For Brands page, it goes through FormSubmit, a form-to-email service, which emails it to me. It carries what you filled in: your name, company, work email, website, social handle, the product and its link, timeline, budget, the content and deliverables you picked, and any notes. I use it to reply about the work. Sending a brief doesn't add you to the newsletter. FormSubmit's own privacy policy covers the message on its way to my inbox.

Analytics, cookies and local storage

This site runs two analytics tools. Neither uses cookies. Neither collects anything personal.

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views. Cloudflare already hosts this site, so every request passes through them either way. This adds no new company to the picture.

Umami records seven events. Here is the whole list:

• analysis-complete. An analysis finished, plus which button you had selected: mastered or reference.
• reference-loaded. A reference track was loaded.
• carousel-export. A carousel was exported, plus how many cards were in it.
• pdf-export. A report was opened. (The name is the old one, kept so the counter stays continuous.)
• email-captured. A newsletter signup was confirmed.
• release-clip-click. The release-clip button was clicked. The clip maker is not built yet; this counts interest in it.
• release-clip-signup. An email was submitted on the release-clip early-access form. The address itself is never in the event.

That is the entire list. Seven counters, plus the button choice and card count named above. Neither tool can identify you, follow you to other sites, or build a profile on you, and there are no ad trackers here.

None of this touches your audio. No file name, no audio, no measurements from your track, no email address. The events record that something happened, never what was in the file. That promise in the first section is unchanged.

What's saved in your browser

This site sets no cookies. It does save a few things in your browser's local storage so pages remember you between visits. Here's all of it, by type.

Display. Light or dark mode, and your motion setting.

Signal Check settings. Your genre, whether the track is a master or a reference, and which views and panels you had open or closed.

Your last check. The headline numbers from your most recent Signal Check analysis: loudness, loudest section, true peak, crest, PSR, clipped samples, mono compatibility and stereo correlation, plus when you ran it. That's what powers "Vs your last check." No audio and no file name.

Your email. Only if you entered one on Signal Check, so you don't have to retype it.

Money Splits progress. The checklist items and registrations you've ticked.

Testing switches. Two flags that keep my own test visits out of the analytics. Only a test link I use sets them.

All of this stays on your device. None of it is sent to me or anyone else, except the saved email when you export, as described above. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings wipes it.

Scripts from other companies

Two outside scripts load here: Umami's analytics beacon, and the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon that Cloudflare adds as this site's host. The ZIP download for carousels uses JSZip, a small open-source library served from this site. beehiiv and FormSubmit receive what you send them, as described above, but none of their code runs in your browser.

Until August 2026 there was more. The homepage signup form was a beehiiv embed that also pulled in Google Tag Manager and a bot-detection script and set their own cookies. It's a plain form on this site now. The fonts used to come from Google Fonts, which showed Google your IP address on every page. They're served from this site now.

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal. If yours does, Umami doesn't count your visit at all. Nothing here tracks you across other sites either way. There are no cookies and no ad trackers, and neither analytics tool builds a profile on you or follows you anywhere else.

Third-party links

Links to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and similar platforms take you to their sites, where their own privacy policies apply. The stores work the same way. Digital products (cheat sheets, templates, Genre Blueprints) are sold through Gumroad. Music is on Bandcamp. Merch is sold through Fourthwall. Each store runs its own checkout, so this site never sees your payment information.
